Big Bear Singles Mixer Summer Calendar of Events!

Here is the Big Bear Singles Mixer Summer Calendar of Events! YAHOOO!!!!

Also listed below are some cool happenings around town, but not Singles Mixer events.

We have new members, so I hope you can make some of the events! Please help get the word out - please post and pass along these dates so others can find out about our great group.

Also - a few people made requests for a BBQ, cooking class (with wine tasting) and more hikes - is anyone willing to help host? (That means helping pick a date and location and just showing up to greet people. If not, we will have to skip those for now.)

Note: A few events are an activity and then a meal. If you only want to do one or the other (like just the meal) that is ok!

Big Bear Singles Mixer has a website at http://www.BigBearSinglesMixer.com

Mountain Singles also have events in nearby mountain communities - listed at http://mountainsingles.org/events.html

As always, all events listed above are Big Bear Singles Mixer events and are independent of the business listed.

Other Cool Happenings:

KaYoga Classes - {kay-yoh-guh} - Movements for Paddlers - Wednesdays 5:45-7pm at Equada Yoga in the Village. www.equadayoga.com $12. The blending of yoga and Kayaking is complimentary - both work on motion with stillness, flexibility with strength and connection with the breath. The emphasis of the Kayoga class is to create flexibility and strength in your arms, shoulders, back muscles, hips and legs. Yoga poses will help you to sit comfortably in your kayak or canoe. The class will also be working on body rotation the secret to paddling. Prior paddling experience is not necessary for this class. If available please bring a paddle (canoe or kayak) and enjoy.

Sol Foods Underground - Many of you know, love, and miss the retail store of Sol Foods. Well, they are changing things around but are still in our community to bring us healthy and locally-grown foods and events. They are still offering some foods and I hear a rumor that they are even going to host special dinners! I think the best way to contact them is email at solfoodmarket@gmail.com.

Kayak Classes - In addition to our wonderful class in August, North Shore Trading Company is hosting one kayak class per month. $25 per class, $25 for boat rental. RSVP required. (Same info as above.) Dates: June 12, July 11 (at PaddleFest), our date of August 7, and September 18. Meet at 8:30am, 9am in the water.

Big Bear PaddleFest - A festival of clinics and races for kayaks and canoes on the North Shore of Big Bear Lake, hosted by North Shore Trading Company. For two days in July (10-11), paddlers can test their stamina at 6700', take beginner through advanced clinics, and learn about the latest in paddling gear from vendors and sponsors. Lots of folks who enjoy the outdoors - great way to meet people. http://www.bigbearpaddlefest.com/

USARC (United States Adaptive Recreation Center) is a great group looking for volunteers this summer - I met tons of people volunteering for their group. They work with schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and park and recreation departments to serve children and adults with all types of cognitive or physical disabilities. They teach them to water-ski, fish, sail, kayak and jet-ski in the summer! More info online at http://www.usarc.org/

Kittens for Adoption! - Ok, so not really a happening! :-) One of our members has 4 rescued kittens for adoption. She is asking an adoption donation fee. Email me if interested. bigbearsinglesmixer@gmail.com

Back On-Line!

After a long winter, the Big Bear Singles Mixer is back!

There is LOTS going on in (and around!) Big Bear!

First of all - we are working on a schedule for events this summer - we have a special kayak event, Happy Hour, BBQ and "Girls Only" friend night in the works!

In the near future, there are TWO special Earth Day events - not Singles Mixer events, but singles are WELCOME! Great events to meet other people who are into living GREEN.

Thursday April 22 from 5:45pm -7:15 Equada Yoga is hosting a yoga and live music to celebrate Earth Day. $12 for the candlelight restorative class at 663 Pine Knot Ave.www.equadayoga.com

Saturday April 24 from 11am - 4pm Sierra Club is hosting an Earth Day Fair in The Village at the Copper Q parking lot - right on Pine Knott Ave. Yoga class, booths and information about living green!

The Mountain Singles group hosts lots of great events - they have a Wednesday mixer and this week will be at the Antlers in Twin Peaks, from 6 to 9 pm, usually upstairs. Their next Happy Hour will be at the Antlers too, this Friday from 5 to 6:30. Then, on Saturday from 8 to 11 pm, they will gather at the piano bar, at the Royal Oak in Blue Jay. This month the piano bar is a week later than normal so that they could attend the Comedy Night on the third Saturday. Click on highlighted words for more information. The calendar is here, and the website is over here.

Hope to see you at one of the events!
